About
For substantive or longer-form discussion β please use π¬ GitHub Discussions so the conversation can get involved, get threaded replies, and stay organized. See the curated π Discussion Map. Four hubs:
- π§ Substantive (bio / econ / stats / welfare β the unified main event)
- π― PQ framing β how we define the questions
- π¬ Workshop logistics β session prep, agenda
- π₯οΈ Platform & UX β dashboard, visuals, commenting process

The Unjournal Pivotal Questions Project
This dashboard is part of The Unjournalβs Pivotal Questions initiative, which aims to synthesize research on high-stakes questions for effective altruism and global priorities.
Cultured Chicken Focus
The cultured chicken pivotal question asks:
What will be the production cost of cultured chicken by [target year], and what are the implications for animal welfare?
Model status (March 2026): This model is largely AI-generated and we cannot yet vouch for all parameter values. It is provided to fix ideas, give a sense of the sort of modeling we want, and surface doubts and disagreements β a framework for discussion and comparison, not a definitive cost estimate. We welcome scrutiny and suggestions.
This model aims to help evaluators and forecasters:
- Quantify uncertainty in cost projections
- Identify key drivers of cost reduction
- Compare scenarios based on technology adoption
- Provide a framework for structured discussion and collaborative refinement
